Traditional Dances Master’s Programme
About the Program
To raise creative individuals who are needed in the field of dance, have scientific, artistic and research personality; cinema, theater, music, etc. within institutions with academic and artistic content (Universities, Institutes, Communities of the Ministry of Culture, State Theaters, State Opera and Ballet, Various Organizations Conducting Scientific Certificate Programs, etc.). To train qualified and respected experts in national and international fields. Taking advantage of interdisciplinary studies at the level of contemporary performing arts, developing the field of traditional dances in an artistic and scientific platform and integrating the cultural values represented with the world, acquiring artistic and scientific equipment are among the primary duties of the Traditional Dances Master Program. In this context, the main purpose of the Traditional Dances Master Program is to give individuals a vision that is open to development and creativity with theoretical and practical equipment, competence in dance performance, scientific and artistic thought systematics.
Self-task of the program (Mission) and Self-view (Vision)
Mission: To raise creative individuals who are needed in the field of dance, who have scientific, artistic and research personality; to train qualified and respected experts in cinema, theater, music, etc. within institutions with academic and artistic content (Universities, Institutes, Communities of the Ministry of Culture, State Theaters, State Opera and Ballet, Various Organizations Conducting Scientific Certificate Programs, etc.) in the national and international fields.
Vision: It is one of the primary duties of the Traditional Dances Master Program, by utilizing interdisciplinary studies at the level of contemporary performing arts, to develop the field of traditional dances in an artistic and scientific platform and to acquire artistic and scientific equipment with a perspective that can integrate the represented cultural values with the world. In this context, the main purpose of the Traditional Dances Master Program is; to provide individuals with a vision that is open to development and creativity through theoretical and practical equipment, competence in dance performance, scientific and artistic thought systematics.
The Target Audience of the Program
Based on the undergraduate level qualifications, the target group is aimed to develop, and deepen their knowledge in the field of traditional dance performance, and to comprehend the interdisciplinary interaction in this field.
Structure of the Program
In the Traditional Dances Graduate Program, 24 credits of courses consist of 12 credits of compulsory and 12 credits of elective courses. Courses are 3 + 0 credits. In the program, the student is required to give a seminar, perform a Stage Performance and write a thesis during the education period. The weighted GPA must be at least 3.00 for graduation and the thesis must be successfully completed. After the student accepted to the program has succeeded in the English exam, he / she can start the courses with the approval of the advisor.
There is a 30% English course requirement in the program.
In the program, students can take 50% of the total credits of elective courses from their own programs, other courses from SBE graduate programs or graduate or doctorate programs of different universities with the approval of their advisor.
ITU Undergraduate Education Grading System is used for the final evaluation.
