MA in Economics

The M.A. Program in Economics aims to equip its students from various backgrounds with the ability to understand, use, or extend research in economics. Graduates are typically placed as analysts or economists in either state or private institutions or continue with their Ph.D. studies in different parts of the world. Core theory courses Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Research Methods are complemented by field courses that are shared with the doctoral program. The program's language is English.

Admission Requirements:

  •     Istanbul Technical University Senate’s Admission Requirements (see: http://www.sis.itu.edu.tr)
  •     A minimum of 80 from ALES (equally weighted) or 710(or 155 new scale) from GRE (quantitative) or 600 from GMAT
  •     A GPA of 3.15 (out of 4) or 80.0 (out of 100)
  •     2 reference letters
  •     A minimum of 65 from YDS or 70 from TOEFL

Program Structure
The students should successfully complete 27 credits, 2 seminar courses (no credits –and in one of which the thesis topic should be presented) and a thesis should be submitted. There are 6 core courses (18 credits) and three electives (9 credits). To be able to graduate, students should score minimum 3.00 GPA.
